Are you at the point in wedding planning where it all feels like too much?

Almost every couple experiences a moment like this, it's a completely normal feeling.

From budgeting and vendor selection to creating a guest list and

deciding if you follow all the traditions or not; it can all completely feel overwhelming

I'm here to give you 6 wedding planning reminders

to try to help calm your mind and ease the stress.

1. You don’t need to stick to traditions

I know this one seems obvious, but some couples feel pressure from social media, family traditions, or society to follow all the wedding traditions. This is your reminder that you do not have to include any tradition that makes you uncomfortable or just doesn’t fit your vibe. If you want to do a first look, go for it! If you don’t want a cake, you don’t need to have one. Traditional vows aren’t your thing, write your own. You want to elope with only your closest people? DO IT! It’s your day, don’t let anyone turn it into something you hate.

2. Your wedding is meaningful no matter the guest count

I’ve seen so many couples stressed that they haven’t invited enough people to their wedding day. Inviting 50 guests instead of 400 doesn’t make your day any less important or special! You are marrying the love of your life, surrounded by your favourite people, that’s all you need.

3. Your budget doesn’t matter as much as you think

Whether you’re working with a 5k or 50k budget, you can have a beautiful day. If you need a place to start, plan your initial budget, reach out to your favourite venues first, then other vendors and ask for pricing! From there you can pick your must-have vendors and fit them into your budget. If the initial vendors aren’t the right fit, repeat the process with some others you love. It may take some time to find the right fit, but please don’t get discouraged, the right vendor is out there!

4. don't compare your wedding to celebrities or influencers

This one is easier said than done. We’re constantly fed the picture perfect events on our timeline and think, “How can I ever compete?” The best part is, even though it’s hard to admit, you don’t have to. Every wedding is unique to the couple and should tell your story authentically. Influencer weddings are pretty, but nothing is more meaningful than the moments you’ll experience with your loved ones, no matter how you choose to celebrate.

5. You don't have to make every decision all at once

Decision fatigue is real. The shear amount of vendors local to you might have your mind racing and thinking "how do we pick the right vendors?"

My advice to avoid burnout or rushed decisions is to start with one vendor, reach out to the top 3 you love within that field and once you've found the right fit for your day, move on to the next vendor. Trying to make all your choices and book at one time can lead you to resenting the planning process and quickly deplete your budget. By spacing out your vendor bookings you can give each vendor choice your full attention and continue building the excitement of your wedding day slowly as you book all your favourite vendors.

6. You don't have to invite everyone

This one might be a bit controversial, but you do not need to invite every person in your life to your wedding. Planning your guest list can be one of the most stressful aspect of your day, but it doesn't have to be. If you want a smaller wedding, are worried about added drama from certain guests, or are just trying to stay within budget; any reason is a valid reason to not sent out that invite.

the wedding is just one day."
